Erin Spousta, BSN, RN
Erin Spousta is a Registered Nurse with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree from San Diego State University and possesses over 23 years of clinical experience.
Erin’s Early History
Erin knew from an early age that she wanted to work in the field of medicine focusing in cardiology. She attributes this to her fifth-grade teacher, who taught her everything she could possibly understand about the heart. From that point forward she was mesmerized by cardiology and the excitement and challenge of working on its advancements and the profound effects it has on patients’ lives.
While completing her nursing degree, Erin worked at Scripps Clinic and Research Foundation/Scripps Green Hospital in La Jolla, California, for Dr. Richard Schatz and Dr. Paul Tierstein. Erin played a critical role in coordinating clinical research trials for cutting-edge new therapies in Interventional Cardiology. The two most innovative therapies that she worked on were for the first intracoronary stents for the treatment of blocked coronary vessels and intracoronary gamma and beta radiation for repeated re-narrowing of the coronary vessels.
Erin continued her research career after graduation, having worked at many prestigious institutes throughout the country such as St. Luke’s Episcopal Hospital/Texas Heart Institute, University of Colorado Health Sciences Center/Denver Veterans Affairs Hospital, Austin Heart, Heart Hospital of Austin, Biophysical Corporation and Rules Based Medicine.
Throughout her 15-year career as a Clinical Research Coordinator, she worked on many exciting clinical trials that led to the advancement of standard treatment therapies in Interventional and General Cardiology. Additionally, her clinical research experience led to the advancement of early detection and disease prevention through the discovery of new biomarkers in blood testing for a number of disease processes.
Medical Aesthetics and Skin Care
Despite her continued love for cardiology, Erin became increasingly interested in the growing field of medical aesthetics and skin care. Her childhood years on the beaches of San Diego were beginning to show on her skin and throughout her desire to repair her own sun damage, she began to broaden her knowledge on skin care and therapies involved in treating those with compromised skin, whether from sun, acne, age, or a myriad of other causes.
Erin has attended numerous advanced training courses on neuromodulator and dermal filler injections, laser treatments, chemical and mechanical exfoliation, lymphatic massage, and generalized skincare, which led her to change her career focus to medical aesthetics in order to educate and assist others with their skin-care concerns.
Erin continually educates and advances herself through clinical experience, webinars, industry publications, as well as attending hands-on trainings. As a result of her expertise, Erin has been selected to provide clinical training to physicians and her peers for several major aesthetic manufacturers.
